EMAP 2017 Projects

In our first year of the Evanston Mural Arts Program, we oversaw six murals by professional artists, worked with  10 community partners and sponsors, and incorporated two youth projects with 50 children in Evanston/Skokie District 65.

Artists and projects for 2017 included:

Nick Goettling painted an illustrative mural on the theme of “Connections and Constellations” at Central St and Green Bay Rd. 

Ruben Aguirre painted a colorful and active abstract mural at Dempster St. and Sherman Avenues.

Shawn Bullen painted a moving mural with images of birds, bees, and transit at  Elmwood and Davis St.

Alfonso Piloto Nieves Ruiz created a mosaic and painted with an inspiring message at at Foster and Ashland Ave.

Lea Pinsky led two smaller mural projects on boards with youth in the community, one for the new Y.O.U. building in Evanston and the other for the courtyard at Washington School.

2017 Partners and Sponsors included: Evanston Arts Council, Evanston Art Center, Central St Business Association, Centrum Evanston, Main Dempster Mile, 5th ward Alderman Robin Rue Simmons, MS Group Dreamtown Mary Summerville and Allie Payne, Blick Art, JC Licht, Y.O.U.
