APRIL 2:  Spertus Museum and Institute of Jewish Study
Discover why art and architecture critics are raving about this stunning new building designed by Krueck and Sexton featuring a 10 ft. faceted window wall.  Joanna and Spertus docent Rae Jedel will take you on a tour of the museum that showcases art ranging from traditional religious objects to contemporary.  We will explore The New Authenticity: Artists of the Post Jewish Generation, an exhibit raising questions about what it means to be Jewish in the 21st century.  Find out how 16 American artists engaged in the global community blend issues of gender, identity, politics and history with their Jewish heritage.

APRIL 30: Marcy Sperry’s Domestic Obsessions at Ditmar Gallery, NU Evanston
Find multiple meanings in possibly the most unique clothing you’ll ever see.  Marcy redefines the possibility of craft in contemporary art by creating items of clothing made from found objects, plastic, photographs and old tee shirts which she laboriously embroiders and embellishes with glass beads and found objects. Her works raise questions about gender and class expectations. Also on display are works by Brandy Pudzis pursuing themes of marriage and war.  Our tour ends at Northwestern University’s sculpture garden with works by renowned international artists.
