Welcome to Art Encounter
We are a 501(c) (3) nonprofit art education organization founded in 1978 with the mission to bring an appreciation of art and the creative process to all people.  We provide opportunities for creative growth through our extensive programs of interactive tours, hands-on art classes, and community outreach.

Outreach

80% of our programming is outreach with groups that typically receive little or no art education. We work with schools, senior residences and nursing homes, individuals with special needs, and many others.

ART ENCOUNTER "FRIENDS ONLY" EVENT AT THE HOME OF JUDY SASLOW

Members of Art Encounter Friends are invited for an exclusive tour of this River North art dealer’s home.  Judy spent two years looking for the right space to house her impressive collection and finally found it in a vintage building in Streeterville. The eclectic collection contains prints and ceramics by famous modern artists such as Dubuffet, Calder, and Picasso, but focuses mainly on American and European outsider artists. A special feature is a huge collection of paintings by former slave Bill Traylor.
