Intergenerational Programming

Linking Generations

Art Encounter annually offers an exciting 9-week project that brings senior citizens and Evanston Township High School students together through collaborative art projects. Working in pairs, students and seniors explore art materials and get to know each other by sharing ideas and artistic decisions. Each student/senior team creates a mixed media art work reflecting their combined interests. The program concludes with a public exhibit of the works at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center, accompanied by photo documentation by Rich Foreman. At the exhibit’s opening reception, each creative team talks about the artistic decisions and symbols in their artworks. In 2007, this project will be led by teaching artists Nadine Royster and Michelle Stone.
