Art Encounter
, in partnership with Art Design Chicago, presents a two day motor coach arts excursion to Springfield, in celebration of the Illinois Bicentennial.  Artistic Director Joanna Pinsky will lead this fascinating art tour which features a visit to the newly restored Illinois Governor’s Mansion to view its inaugural exhibition, Art of Illinois, which is presented as part of Art Design Chicago. This exhibit will lead us through the creative achievements of fine and applied arts practitioners working in Illinois from the mid-nineteenth century to the present, including many from Chicago.
We will explore art of the past, present and future in both historic residences and contemporary spaces. An overnight stay at the lovely Wyndham Springfield City Centre, conveniently located in the city center, will rejuvenate us between our two days of cultural explorations in our capital city.
“A Bicentennial Celebration of the Arts” is presented as part of Art Design Chicago, an initiative of the Terra Foundation for American Art celebrating Chicago’s art and design legacy, with presenting partner, The Richard H. Driehaus Foundation.  The Illinois Arts Council Agency is a sponsor for the Illinois Governor’s Mansion  “Art of Illinois” inaugural exhibition.
