Thursday, July 12, 2018
10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Fee: $65 includes lunch at Miramar Bistro
Richard Hunt in his studio
Our day begins at the exciting studios of Omri and Julie Rottblatt Amrany whose large scale commissions have featured major sports heroes including Michael Jordan and Kareem Abdul Jabbar, followed by lunch at Miramar Bistro in Highwood.
After lunch we will explore the vast collection of art at Oakton Community College’s Koehnline Museum of Art in Des Plaines, with a focus on its special exhibit, Sculpting a Chicago Artist: Richard Hunt and His Teachers. This world renowned sculptor studied with two dynamic teachers in the 1950’s, Nelli Bar and Egon Wiener, who fled Nazi Germany bringing with them European academic training. They both influenced the artist’s life and approach to art; Bar in his adolescence, and Wiener at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. We will also discuss selected outdoor sculptures on this beautiful campus.
A confirmation will be emailed the week prior to the tour with more detailed meeting instructions.
