Breakfast Buffet and Art Tour
Back by popular demand, Art Encounter is offering a second opportunity to tour one of the largest (over 800 works) and most important private collections in the Midwest. Highlights include art by Monet, Inness and Motley, as well as major works by Leon Golub, Ed Paschke, Gertrude Abercrombie, William Conger and Dawoud Bey. Art Encounter President and Chairman of the ULC Art Committee Marsha Goldstein will lead an in depth tour. A special feature will be a visit to the conservation studio with Collection Curator Elizabeth Whiting. Proceeds support Art Encounter’s outreach programs.

Join Art Encounter’s Artistic Director Joanna Pinsky for a day of art in Chicago ’s Western suburbs. Enjoy a rare opportunity to visit McDonald’s extensive art collection of over 4,000 pieces including glass artist Dale Chihuly and sculptor RIchard Hunt.
After a lovely lunch at the Hyatt Lodge on the Hamburger U campus, we will visit the fascinating Elmhurst College art collection featuring Chicago Imagist and Abstractionist Art. Curator and painter Suellen Rocca will give us a tour of the work that includes Karl Wirsum, Roger Brown, Jim Nutt and Art Green, as well as a history of the Imagist movement.
We’ll also visit the Elmhurst Museum, specializing in late 20th century and contemporary art housed in an award-winning building around McCormick House, one of three residences built by Mies van der Rohe in the US .
Don’t miss this exclusive showing of unique ceramics, jewelry and wearable art in an historic Evanston mansion located on the site of Evanston’s first school. Ceramicist Nanette Loeff Allen is opening her home for Art Encounter to see her elaborate Tuscany inspired works as well as unique, imaginative works by invited artists.

Join Joanna Pinsky for three sessions at the Art Institute of Chicago to explore how women are portrayed in art from the nineteenth century Impressionist Movement to the present. We’ll compare the different time periods and how male and female artists represent the female figure.
