Real or Imagined:  The Artwork of Joanna Pinsky and Jill King-Wynn

Saturday, November 3, 2018

You are invited for wine and refreshments to celebrate the opening show of artwork by Art Encounter Encounter’s Artistic Director Joanna Pinsky and Teaching Artist Jill King-Wynn.  Exploring themes of perception and history, Joanna creates 2D shaped acrylic paintings portraying architectural fragments and national heroes. Works are arranged in installations to interact with each other, producing spatial illusions and challenging memory.  Jill constructs three dimensional pieces using a variety of materials including soldered or welded steel, sewn fabrics with acrylic mediums and LED lights. Her sculptural forms allude to fantastical botanical drawings, flying kites or objects from outer space. She often weaves ancient symbols and formulas into her work questioning what’s relevant and what’s forgotten.

Place:  Space 900 Gallery, 816 Dempster St., Evanston
