Joanna Pinsky invites you to join her on an exclusive exploration of incredible art, delicious cuisine and fine wine in San Francisco, the Bay Area and Napa Valley.  Delve in to exciting visual art ranging from cutting edge contemporary to blockbuster exhibits of impressionist and post-impressionist art as we explore art in artists’ studios, private collections and stunning museums.  Enjoy Northern California’s inspired cuisine and sample exquisite wines in imaginative wineries housing beautiful and thought-provoking art collections.  As we travel in the Bay Area and on to Napa, revel in California’s breathtaking vistas.

Day 1. Tuesday, March 12:  An Environment for Art & Architecture

We will meet at 2 pm in our hotel lobby for Introductions.  Our hotel is conveniently located near the lively and scenic Embarcadero where we will take a walking tour of public sculpture.  Next we’ll explore the highly acclaimed new Transit Bay train station, with its stunning curtain wall and rooftop 20,000 sq. ft  Secret Garden abuzz with hummingbirds and poppies. We will have an opening reception at a gallery or private collectio, followed by our Welcome Dinner. Meals Included: Dinner

Day 2. Wednesday, March 13:   The East Bay 

We’ll cross the Bay Bridge to Emeryville and meet with painters, sculptors and installation artists who are part of a 45 year-old live-in studio complex, a national model for affordable artist-owned housing.  After lunch, we’ll view a private collection with expansive views in the Oakland Hills.  Our day ends at the home of a mixed media photographer and artist in her lovely home studio in Oakland. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 3.  Thursday, March 14: Remarkable Museums

We’ll spend the morning investigating contemporary works at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art (SFMOMA), now one of the largest contemporary art museums in the world.  After a 3 year closing, the museum reopened, tripling its beautifully designed space.  Lunch indoors or outdoors at one of several museum cafes.  Next, we’ll travel across the city to the elegant De Young museum situated in the glorious Golden Gate Park. Enjoy this special opportunity to view  two block buster, “Gauguin, a Spiritual Journey,” and The Late Monet.  TBA:  Studio or Collection. Meals included: Breakfast

Day 4. Friday, March 15:  Art in Napa

Enjoy the ride through Northern California’s sensual rolling hills on our way to wine country.  We’ll tour the outstanding Di Rosa Contemporary Art Center featuring over 200 acres of indoor and outdoor contemporary art by Bay area artists.  We’ll visit a winery housing contemporary art. After lunch, We’ll meet artists working at a studio producing large scale public sculpture before arriving at our hotel, the luxurious Andaz Napa located in the center of Napa. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 5. Saturday, March 16:  The Joy of Nature, Art and Wine

Today we will travel the Napa countryside stopping at wineries with collections of fine art featuring renowned national and international artists.  In the afternoon we’ll return to the hotel so you can enjoy some time on your own for a glass of wine on the terrace, a Spa appointment, a swim, work-out or you may explore area shops.  We’ll reconvene for our farewell dinner. Meals included: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

Day 6. Sunday, March 17:  Visit to a Ceramic Studio and Return

We’ll end our Napa experience with a visit to a ceramicist who will demonstrate one of her special techniques in her indoor and outdoor studio.  We then depart for the airport for late afternoon return flights. Meals included: Breakfast
