Join Art Encounter in an exploration of great art, architecture, and history on a motor coach trip to Missouri’s Gateway City and the Illinois state capital. We’ll start by visiting the elegant St. Louis Art Museum in Forest Park, with its terrific collection of contemporary German artists. Then we’ll see Washington University’s newly-expanded Kemper Art Museum. We’ll also visit the unique Pulitzer Arts Foundation, a privately owned museum designed by the great Spanish architect Tadao Ando, which presents contemporary art and art history in dialogue. We’ll finish our stay in St. Louis with visits to artists’ studios and a home collection as well as the 105-acre Laumiere Sculpture Garden. Our trip will conclude in Springfield, IL where we’ll visit three very different house museums, including the remarkable Governor’s Mansion, the Frank Lloyd Wright Dana house, and the Vachel Lindsay home.
