New Views: Architecture and Parks of Chicago Thursday, July 17, 2014

Please join Art Encounter’s Artistic Director Joanna Pinsky
 and art educator Lindy Rubin 
for a day’s exploration  of new parks and buildings in Chicago.
We will visit:
* The highly acclaimed WMS Boathouse at Clark Park  and rowing facility designed by Jeanne Gang and Studio Gang Architects, recently featured in the New Yorker.
*  The spectacular new buildings at the  University of Chicago including the Logan Center for the Arts performance space and art gallery designed by Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects
 and the Booth School of Business designed by Rafael Vinoly Architects
* The new Ping Tom Park in Chinatown 
* The exciting contemporary art collection of the Langham Hotel
*  The temporary exhibit of large scale Jaume Plensa sculptures in Millenium Park.Lunch at the exclusive Langham Hotel designed by Mies van der Rohe and recently remodeled by his grandson architect Dirk Lohan.
Bus pick up:
8:30am pick up at Edens Plaza, Wilmette (parking lot north of Carsons, NW corner along fence)
9:15am Irving Park Train Station, 3931 N. Avondale (Union Pacific NW train leaves Oglivie at 9am, arrives Irving Pk Station at 9:13am)
Bus drop off:

Edens Plaza and Millenium Park

Fee:  $105 Art Encounter members; $115 non-members

Includes bus transportation, Langham Hotel lunch and entry to all sites visited.
